Job description

The Cotswold and North Wilshire Liberal Democrats have been some of the most successful and resilient Lib Dem local parties over the past decade.

We’ve got an energetic, enthusiastic and competent team who’ve driven winning electoral campaigns culminating in May 2019 when we took control of Cotswold District Council from the Conservatives for the first time and in 2021 where we made significant gains from the Conservatives in Wiltshire. 

We’re looking to build on that success!

As our organiser you’ll be an integral part of our team as we seek to retain control of Cotswold District Council in May 2023, make significant process in the General Election expected in 2024 and take control of Wilshire and Gloucestershire Councils in 2025. 

Our organiser needs to be outgoing, organised, versatile and have a passion for political campaigning. The election campaign will be intense and demanding but we promise you’ll have fun and make friends.

You will be working with our candidates to boost their profile through regular door to door literature, you’ll lead activists during canvassing sessions in our towns and villages in order to understand their issues and their voting intention. You’ll also take a lead on digital campaigning which has become even more important with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Essential requirements, qualifications, skills and abilities:


5 GCSEs (A*-C) or equivalent


Political campaigns experience isn’t necessary.

Basic understanding of desktop publishing software e.g. PagePlus, Affinity Publisher, Adobe InDesign.


Good level of IT skills particularly around artworking literature

Communicates effectively at all levels (excellent verbal and written skills)

Ability to build effective working relationships

Is proactive/self-motivated and enthusiastic

Willingness to work flexibly

Politically sensitive and aware

Ability to persuade and negotiate to get tasks completed

Full driving licence

Special conditions:

Will need to attend meetings/events outside of office hours as required

Expected to work reasonable additional hours in line with the needs of the campaign
