Ray moved to the area in 1986 to work for Cotswold District Council as an Environmental Health Officer and continued to do so until he retired in 2012.
Having seen and dealt with many Councillors in his professional life, Ray jumped at the opportunity to stand when former local Councillor Deyck Nash asked him. Having worked in local government his while life Ray wanted to put my experience to good use and repay the community.
His priorities are:
- The “Chesterton development” - Whilst he campaigned against it, Ray will work to ensure that it proceeds in an orderly, sustainable and phased manner which does not overwhelm the town.
- Improving the parking situation in Cirencester. - The car parks are just not big enough for our residents and tourists, Ray will continue to work for more spaces and to tackle on-street issues.
- Developing an economic plan for Cirencester - we’ve seen the face of the high street changing in recent years; we need an economic plan to ensure Cirencester remains a great place to work and shop.
