The Liberal Democrats exist to build and safeguard a fair, free and open society, in which we seek to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community, and in which no one shall be enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity.
The Liberal Democrat local party in the Cotswolds constituency has been one of the most successful in the country over the last decade. The constituency covers a swathe of southern and eastern Gloucestershire including the whole of the Cotswold District and three wards from Stroud - Wotton-under-Edge, Kingswood and Minchinhampton.
Despite a difficult result for the Liberal Democrats nationally at the 2015 general election we recorded the 59th best result for the Liberal Democrats anywhere in the country. On the same day we also won 10 seats on Cotswold District Council holding all of our seats and gaining one wiping the Conservatives off the map in Cirencester.
Our team of Councillors at Cotswold District Council has also bolstered by two stunning by-election wins in Stow-on-the-Wold and Fairford taking our number of Councillors to 12 and in a great position to win a majority on the Council in 2019.
In 2017 year we gained 40% of votes in the Cotswolds at the Gloucestershire County Council elections meaning elections in the Cotswolds really are a two horse race in the Cotswolds between the Lib Dems and Conservatives!
Becoming a Liberal Democrat member costs just £1 a month. To join the local party please go to www.libdems.org.uk/join.
