Councillor switches on the public through innovative internet TV move9.33.37am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 19th Oct 2009 Cotswold District Council's Lib Dem leader Paul Hodgkinson has become a screen 'star' by switching on a new channel to voters. He has fronted a six-minute internet film clip that highlights the issues of protecting local services and road safety. The footage, produced by local firm Furry Feet TV, can be accessed by anyone with a computer and is part of the Lib Dems' plan to connect with public concerns and showcase what can be achieved by community strength and involvement. "I want as many people as possible involved in local issues because they affect our everyday lives," said Cllr Hodgkinson (Churn Valley). "The internet clip is an example of how we can reach and engage the public." "It talks about the success we have had in keeping the post office services at Colesbourne and Rendcomb as well as the need for improved safety along the A435." "The local media in the Cotswolds is very supportive of the community and we view this internet film as another way of reaching people and letting them know what their councillors are doing for them." The film was made by Furry Feet TV, a local company that is using internet TV coverage to promote local attractions, events and businesses around the Cotswolds. It broadcasts local, filmed content from its base in Woodmancote, near Cirencester. Cllr Hodgkinson is seen interviewing Rendcomb postmaster Eric Dukes about the crucial community role played by a post office and convenience store. His road safety message hits home graphically as he is filmed alongside the busy A435 at North Cerney with traffic hurtling past.
