The application to build 2,350 homes at Chesterton will be decided by a full meeting of Cotswold District Council rather than the authority's planning committee thanks to Cotswold Lib Dem Leader Cllr Joe Harris.
Cllr Joe Harris, said: "I put forward a motion to the last Council meeting calling on CDC to take this step and unfortunately it couldn't be heard. I'm therefore delighted that this step has been taken anyway and my calls have been listened to."
"I served on the planning committee for three years and they do a fantastic job. However the Chesterton application is a monster the like of which we’ve never seen in the Cotswolds.”
“I think therefore it is completely appropriate that it gets the full scrutiny of all 34 Council members. Not only will it be more democratic but it’ll get much more investigation and a better decision will be made on these hugely controversial plans.”
